    My GC8 2000 Impreza 2.5RS Project....

Post by Nissota on Wed Aug 24, 2011 12:58 pm

Ok, it's about time this project gets off the backburner and started. I'm looking at eventually having about 350-400 whp when it's all said and done. No outrageous power levels or expectations as this will be replacing my Lexus as my new DD. The engine of choice will be a EJ257 (USDM STi) short block mated to my EJ251 (USDM SOHC phase 2 EJ25) heads, a hybrid motor so to say. Parts ordered already include arp head studs, complete racing timing belt kit, brand new OEM STi oil pump, mishimoto racing thermostat, complete 2004 STi short block (minus stock crappy pistons), OEM STi head gaskets, and Hydra Stand alone EMS.

Still waiting to order pistons and other Misc stuff to mount the heads on the block and get it all put together. Will also need to order a wrx front crossmember, and of course all the fin things that comes with turboing a motor (BOV, FMIC, up and down pipes, exhaust, etc)

The civic is not on the backburner, still waiting on selling my wide body s13 before the civic gets finished up. But the civic will be seeing the paint shop really soon to finally freshen up that dull stock paint and to place the CF goodies on.

Ok, so some of the parts are starting to trickle in. Picked up my Hydra EMS today off a Sti guy in Austin. Still in great condition, these things go for like $2000 brand new. Got mine for 1/4 the price. Need to send it back to Hydra to reprogram it to work with a RS. The reprogram cost $150, but after that, should be good to go.

    Also stumbled across this.....

Whats a Subie without a shopping cart wing?? Anyways, this is a replica of either a version 5 or 6 STi spoiler. Its CF and in excellent shape. Also came off a GC coupe and fitment is great. I was gonna get one of these wings anyways later down the road, the CF ones go for $500 shipped, got this one for half that.
Also got a WRX front crossmember and LCA's. Will need a crossmember off a turbo subie in order to swap a turbo motor in a N/A chassis. And because I got the wrx LCA's, I dont have to shim my stock RS LCA's.

Well, the exedy stock replacement is said to hold up to 300lbs TQ. And I didn't wanna spend a grip load of money on a fancy clutch for this tranny when I know I am gonna ditch it ASAP for a STi six speed

Lol, I wish I could wait on a deal for a STi tranny! Unfortunately, since I sold the Lexus, I need a DD ASAP and deals for a STi tranny are hard to come by. So I'll have to go along with the build and hopefully one will come up sooner or later.

Oh no, that will never be for sale! Once I get the impreza on the road and able enough to be daily driven, the EG will be going under the knife for a full all motor 300+HP build.

Denso OEM style top feed 750cc injectors..

Deatschwerks 300lph in tank fuel pump, flow sheets show it flows way more than a walbro 255lph and about the same as a 340lph aeromotive intank pump. Plus Deatschwerks has outstanding customer service and a 3 year warranty!
